Jiah Khan's Childhood Struggles in London
Jiah Khan was a rising star in Bollywood when she tragically passed away in 2013. She was known for her beauty, talent, and vivacious personality. However, behind her glamorous image was a childhood marked by financial hardship and emotional turmoil.
In 1989, Jiah's mother, Rabia, moved to London with her two daughters, including Jiah, who was just two years old at the time. Rabia had separated from her husband, Ali Rizvi Khan, and was struggling to make ends meet.
A few years later, Rabia married Thomas Puppendahl, but the marriage was short-lived. When Thomas left the family, he took the family's savings with him and managed to gain ownership of their home. Rabia and her daughters were forced to move into a rented house and live on a strict budget.
In an interview, Jiah Khan revealed that they primarily relied on McDonald's burgers to make ends meet. She also shared that her stepfather had been emotionally abusive, and that she had witnessed him physically assault her mother.

Despite these challenges, Jiah Khan persevered. She excelled in school and was a talented singer and dancer. She dreamed of one day becoming a Bollywood star, and she eventually made her dream come true.

In 2013, Sooraj Pancholi was arrested for allegedly contributing to a suicide after a suicide note was found. He was later released on bail by the Mumbai High Court, which meant they didn't believe he was solely responsible.
Rabia Khan, Jiah's mother, believes her daughter was murdered and accuses Sooraj Pancholi of being the main suspect. She also claims there were financial issues, including money and jewelry. In an interview, Rabia said that Jiah had given Sooraj money to buy jewelry for her sister's 21st birthday, but he didn't buy it or tell Jiah what happened to the money.
Even though he apologized and sent flowers, Jiah confronted him about the money, but we don't know what came of it. Rabia also mentioned that Jiah shared the key to her apartment's lock with Sooraj, which made her suspicious about his involvement in Jiah's death. Sooraj, on the other hand, says that Jiah was dealing with depression, and he tried to help her many times. He claims he told Rabia about Jiah's condition, but nothing was done, leading to Jiah's suicide. In 2013, Rabia appealed to the Bombay High Court, stating that her daughter's death was murder and asked for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. In 2014, the case was given to the CBI, which later charged Sooraj Pancholi. In 2016, the CBI said it wasn't a murder, but Rabia didn't agree and got help from a British expert who said it wasn't a suicide. She then asked for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to take over the case, but that request was denied in 2017.
